My Sketch-a-day Project

On January 1st this year I set myself a challenge to improve my sketching abilities. I decided I would produce at least one sketch a day. Here we are four months in, well into my second sketch pad, and I haven't missed a day. It's good; I enjoy it.

The project forces me to stop, and look around. Some days it's easier; there's plenty of time to draw and I have an inspiring subject. Other days I've had to run off a quick sketch of whatever's to hand before I can head to bed.

Sometimes I produce an image which I'm really proud of and I'm eager to share it. Those pictures will make their way onto this site and Instagram. But other times I'm less enthusiastic about the results, still, I never tear them out and discard them. Often I'll laugh at my unfortunate attempts but more often I'll just try to learn from these mistakes. Remember, the point of this project was to improve not showboat.
